Mexico & Countryside

Experience the many faces of modern Mexico, our neighbor to the south. Encounter people of faith and organizations working for change and a better future. See the contrast in the countryside and learn the reasons for increased emigration. The program includes a visit to the shrine of Our lady of Guadalupe, the Zocalo, birthplace of modern Mexico, and the ancient site of the pyramids of Teotihuacan.

Mexico City-- One of the largest cities in the world, center of Spanish-American culture, site of magnificent examples of history and anthropology, place of great riches, but also the social and economic problems that plague Mexico, home for a host of courageous people working to make a better life for themselves, their families and neighborhoods.

Visit a town in the state of Guanajuato, a couple hours from Mexico City, which will provide a close-up of life in the countryside and enable program participants to examine rural issues and see what happens to families when the men of the town emigrate north.
